Lucky Trifyllo and his twin brother Orion were born in a small village in Outer La Noseca. Their parents, Cygnus and Lilian, were a factory worker and a semi-retired detective turned barmaid respectively. From birth, the two were inseparable and were practically two sides of the same coin. Lilian would always tell the twins stories of her previous cases, giving them an admiration of detective work from an early age and a desire to adventure.
When Lucky and Orion were 13, Cygnus tragically died at the factory. While the Yellowjackets ruled it to be an accident, Lilian suspected differently. However, they wouldn’t reopen the case no matter how much she pleaded. This would give the brothers a lifelong distrust of authority and the peacekeeping organizations. Lilian would have to fully quit being a detective to take care of the twins, but continued to slowly investigate Cygnus’ death in secret. Lucky and Orion, on the other hand, trained themselves in healing and swordsmanship in order to set out on a journey across Eorzea. This way they would be able to cover for each other.
Around Lucky and Orion’s 18th birthday, Lilian suddenly disappeared. Finding her hidden investigation notes on their father, they knew she must have been taken somewhere. Knowing that they couldn’t rely on the Yellowjackets to help, the two brothers decided that this was the time for them to take up her legacy of detective work and set out on an adventure to search for her. Their journey took them across Eorzea, taking on cases wherever they went in order to make money and train their skills. They opened the Twin Trifyllos Detective Agency in Limsa Lominsa to take advantage of the high population and also to run counter to the Yellowjackets. Running the agency allowed them to take on cases while also investigating their mother’s disappearance on the side.
They investigated cases together at the agency for around three years. One day, Lucky and Orion were on a dangerous investigation into a company related to a past case their mother took on. Things went wrong, and Orion ended up dying with Lucky unable to help. Lucky himself barely escaped with his life, receiving his scars as a permanent reminder of his beloved brother’s death. Deeply shaken by the experience, Lucky left Limsa Lominsa and journeyed the world. He began training himself to fight in order to better defend himself and make up for Orion’s loss. As he went from place to place, he would solve cases in order to bring justice in any way he could, but he never got attached to people or stayed in one place for very long.
After about four years of wandering, Lucky received a mysterious letter claiming something outrageous: his mother Lilian was alive! Barely believing it but the slight hope that she could be alright driving him forward, he set out for Limsa Lominsa alone for the first time. What will he find? Who will he meet? What will he solve?
